Antonella Ciapetti

Born in Florence, graduated in 1977 at the Institute of Art for Ceramics in Sesto Fiorentino (FI).

Brilliant student of Marcello Fantoni, one of the first artists to bring modern ceramics to Florence, at the International School for Ceramics in Via Bolognese in Florence, from 1977 to 1986. Following the title obtained, she traveled a long time looking for influences that could enrich her inspiration, touching Greece, India and the United States.

Returning to Italy, in 1984 she attended the course of Gemmology organized by the Province of Florence and in 1986 opened the “Geometrie” ceramic laboratory, where she carried out a careful research on the formal and, above all, on the chromatic level. A year later, she opened the shop of the same name in Greve in Chianti (FI).
In the meantime, she started holding collective courses of ceramics aimed at everyone, with particular attention to the disabled children.
She loves working outdoors, immersed in the nature of Chianti. Her workshop overlooking the hills of San Casciano leads to an instinctive approach with the material, inspired by the sensations of the moment. Among her inspirations, Kandinskij, Klimt and oriental ceramics.

For Antonella, as a dreamer, working with ceramics is a way to maintain contact with the earth and, symbolically, with reality.
